• Occasionally, you may wish to use a digital effect such as a page turn (Figure 6-5) or a rotating flip from one shot to another, but leave most of the fancy fly-ins, squeezes, shutter wipes, etc., for training videos. They need the spicy effects to keep the audience awake.

Special Effects

Special effects in editing are the magic tricks: things like a picture-in-picture composite (see Figure 6-6); making a full-frame shot shrink down in size, spin around, and move across the screen; compositing two shots together to make one shot, and putting an actor, shot in front of a blue or green screen, into a virtual set.
